This week Spirit continues to focus on messages pointing us to the magic in our lives. The message has been brought forward by my many encounters with magpies over the last few weeks. As some of you may know, animals, birds, insects, amphibians can all be messengers from Spirit. When a certain creature gains your attention, especially repeatedly, they are delivering a message to you. We have a lot of magpies in our neighbourhood as do many areas of Calgary, so you might think it is just coincidence that I have had so many encounters lately. I thought so too, until I heard the repeated message “Magic, find the magic!”
Let me start by telling you about the numerous encounters I have had with magpies. Yes, we have many magpies in our neighbourhood and it is not uncommon to hear their call in the early morning or evening. Often when I sit at our kitchen table, I will catch the white flash of the tip of their wings as they glide between the trees. Like many other birds in the neighbourhood, they enjoy using the fountain on our back deck as a watering hole and bird bath! Unlike the other birds though, they tend to stick around lining up on the deck railing to rest for a while and peer into our kitchen. And to our dismay we have more than once discovered how well they and their cousins, the crows, can shred a total bin of garbage in minutes if a can lid is left even slightly ajar!
Lately though, the magpies have been showing up differently for me. On many days they have chosen our front lawn to dine on the delicious worms that come to the surface especially after a rainstorm. On several occasions, when I go to leave the house, there is a group of magpies congregating on the field across the street from our house right at curbside. In fact, tonight, as I sit on our front porch to write this, three magpies have feasted on the worms on the front lawn and one fellow in particular has returned. He landed on the walk close to the house and was venturing across the lawn up to the porch right in front of me, when someone opened the front door and he took refuge in the blue spruce at the edge of the yard. Several times these last few weeks I have been driving when a magpie has appeared seemingly out of nowhere to fly right across the path of the car to the point where I needed to brake! A few days ago, when I was driving up our street towards home, a magpie jumped off the curb and slowly sauntered in front of the car – I had to stop until he reached the other side then flew off. Last week, and again this afternoon as I sat in our living room, two magpies swooped onto our deck and across the window and then back up onto the roof. They repeated this a few times then flew off.
Are all these encounters just coincidence? Perhaps, but just the fact that I am noticing them
means there is something there for me. With each encounter I try to “listen” for that message but it wasn’t until the first “living room window flyby” that I heard it, “Magic, find the magic!” Each encounter since then I have heard the word “magic” or have seen it printed boldly in my mind’s eye.
When I finally stopped a few days ago to reflect on Spirit’s message from the magpie, I admitted that I did need to pause and bring the magic back into my life. I had been getting cranky being caught up in the many “tasks” of our very busy household, my “to do list.” I was forgetting to take in and appreciate all the wonderful things I have to be grateful for. I was not feeling the joy of the great things happening on a daily basis. So, the first thing I did was give myself the gift of time to meditate – something I had strayed from for quite a while. That meditation was truly magical! I received the gift of amazing energy from Mother Earth. Spending a bit of time on me also reminded me to consider that as an Empath, some of the things I was feeling including the crankiness, might not be mine. When I checked on that, sure enough they weren’t so I was able to deal with those things and immediately felt better.
Now feeling a little more focused I can bring in the messages from the magpie and regroup around creating more magic in my life. When I look up the spiritual symbolism of magpies, they could represent the following:
Omen of good fortune
An angel messenger
Confidence – show your gifts & talents to the world.
Intelligence and wit
Reminder that everything has two sides in life.
Maintain balance between your soul and material things.
Don’t let appearances lead you astray.
Communication, clarity listen, get your point across
Positivity
Seize opportunities, take risks, create.
Cooperation
So how do all these qualities of the magpie relate to ‘find the magic”? When I look at the things the magpie symbolizes, I realize that they are a reminder of all the things available to us to create the magic in our lives, our good fortune. The magic is to be in the energetic flow to create our dreams or the life we want to live by utilizing the following traits:
Intelligence in making conscious choices using our free will helps us articulate our dreams.
Positivity helps us stay in a high vibration to attract the reality we want.
Cooperating and communicating with others and our spiritual team help us move forward in the process. Listening and following Divine guidance steers us in the right direction.
Considering all perspectives, keeping a balance between our spirituality and material pursuits while we recognize and seize opportunities presented help us take action towards creating that reality.
In addition to utilizing the traits of the magpie, there are a few more very important ingredients in creating magic in our life as outlined by Radleigh Valentine in his book Manifesting Your Magical Life and Rhonda Byrne in her book The Magic:
The first is to understand that we have “the magic” within us. We have the ability to create the life we want to live but we need to BELIEVE in that ability. We just need to have a clear idea of what we want, visualize it, feel the love and gratitude in our heart for manifesting that dream, and then let go of any details on how to get there or any fear of not getting there.
Second, we need to feel in our hearts that we deserve that life. If the Divine has created us to ultimately live a joyful life, who are we to say we don’t deserve that? It is important not to judge ourselves or others. We are all unique and special individuals all with a life path specifically designed for us. Let go of regrets, guilt, fear – these are emotions that do not serve us in our highest good.
Third, we need to have patience and FAITH that our magical life will manifest just as it should with perfect timing as Divine intended. If you hit some challenges or detours, remember that they are there for a reason and in your best interest. Perhaps they are related to a life lesson you are learning. Have faith that you are loved by the Divine. As we exercise that patience it is helpful to keep ourselves in our “happy place,” to stay in a state of joy. This has a higher vibration which will attract other things into our life to make us happy.
Next, call in your supports. Find your tribe to talk to and get excited about living your dream. Call in your angelic helpers as well. Have faith that Source loves you and is always trying to help. Prayer helps too and you can engage Archangel Sandalphon to expedite the delivery of your prayers to Source as well as the answers back to you. Always be open to receiving something unexpected that is often something better than what you are asking for!
Last reminder is that the secret ingredient to creating your magical life is GRATITUDE. Release fear and unforgiveness. Carry only positive emotions. Rhonda talks about saying “thank you” and counting your blessings daily. She states that the more we say, “thank you,” the more gratitude we truly feel, the more abundance we attract. This relates to Newton’s Law of what you give equals what you receive in equal portions/one to one. She quotes Johannes A Gaertner (1912-1996), a theologian, professor, and poet who said, “To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, to live gratitude is touch Heaven.” Feeling gratitude in your heart is so important. How do you practice gratitude?
We have talked about these ingredients before – believing, faith/trust, gratitude – but Spirit has brought them forward again as essentials to creating a magical life.
As we are on the eve of the arrival of our fourth grandchild, I am also reminded of another type of magic – the magic of life itself. From early in my childhood, through my years in school and my education in nursing, up until this very moment, I have always been in awe of how a complex mass of biological cells can become a living breathing person with a unique identity. To me, that is a miracle, a magical mystery of the Universe. As I learn more about energy, I am beginning to understand the integration of the soul with the seventy trillion cells of the human body. The fact that the energetic soul exists before and after that integration with the body makes us, in my mind, what Radleigh Valentine calls us - “magical children of the Divine.” How does that feel to be a “magical child of the Divine”?
Zach Bush, a well know physician of endocrinology, internal medicine, and hospice care, is an international speaker and thought leader on “applying the rigor of science, the strength of humanity, and the intelligence of nature to transform our health and our world.” In his Anatomy of the Soul video and meditation he helps us understand and experience our original blueprint of our identity/our energetic field that existed before our human body and that will exist after this body’s demise. The meditation helps us to realign with that original blueprint that existed prior to it’s modification by trauma to cause disease. The concept of releasing emotional and physical trauma to return to the blueprint via visualization is truly magical!
Whether you are revealing in the pure magic of life itself or creating a magical world to live in, Spirit would like you to heed the messages from the magpie. Just as the newsletter two weeks ago had rainbows and unicorns reminding us of the magic in life, the magpie shows us how to recapture it. So, the next time you see or hear a magpie I hope you will appreciate them as a messenger from the Divine and take in their messages for you about creating your magical life!
Lots of love and hugs,
Marilyn
