Silver Linings

As I chatted with our Soul Messages Self Discovery & Healing Community members this week, our conversation turned to spiritually navigating the chaos in our world right now. We didn’t

discuss any political, religious, or economic particulars but as empaths we could all feel the troubling energy of others. In fact, some of us could feel entire populations. In addition to feeling the emotions of others, we were also experiencing a variety of physical symptoms that took some sorting out as to where they were coming from. Perhaps they were the symptoms of others we were picking up on or perhaps the shifting energy of the planet was impacting us physically. As we continued our discussion with helpful suggestions for each other, it was interesting to note how positive the conversation was. There was no bemoaning of woes, no blaming others or external circumstances, no “woe is me” attitude. So, what was the secret to this positivity? We were always seeking that silver lining… “How did we find it?” do you ask? Read on…
It's All About You
The common thread in our discussion was that we all realized that whatever we were experiencing was unique to us and on Divine purpose. We share the belief that we are only responsible for the events in our lives that we have control over. We know that feelings or events that trigger us have a life lesson in it for us. So, the first thing we do is get curious and ask “What is this all about? What is the lesson in this for me?” The questions are the same whether we are reacting to the evening news or experiencing body symptoms. We ask, “What are our emotions and body trying to tell us?” We are all on our own unique journey in this life. We can have very different responses to the same event. For example, when we hear about the devastating acts of war on the news, one person may have a past life memory triggered where they discover the origin of a debilitating fear that they can now understand

and clear while someone else may feel drawn to praying or sending healing for those physically affected.
Whatever our response to an event, we all discussed how we try to shift our perspective to a positive one. We always have a choice as to how we respond to a situation or person. We can choose to find that silver lining in a situation. For example, we may express gratitude for a tough lesson learned. We may enhance our healing ability when faced with a serious illness. We may have new spiritual gifts open as we remember our soul’s calling to respond to certain challenges. When looking at disastrous global events, you may think how can one possibly have a positive perspective on them? If we can step back from judgement, we may see that those events may be waking some up to their own spiritual path. Those who have died may be released from a life of pain or poverty. Those struggling financially may learn to reach out for help while others may be growing in generosity. There are so many potential positive perspectives on seemingly negative situations if we open our minds and hearts to those possibilities. BUT we must make the choice to look for them.
Baby Steps – One at a Time
If you find yourself struggling with negativity and can’t see beyond it, pause and take a breath. Know that you can change what you are experiencing one baby step at a time. You

CAN find that silver lining even if it feels impossible at the present time. Start with a break from everything. Give yourself just ten minutes a day to recentre, regroup. Do something for YOU. Rest, meditate, read, play at a hobby, walk, garden, sing, write, take a bubble bath – do something that you enjoy. Treat yourself with kindness and compassion. After you have spent time on yourself, book a time in your day where you will begin to chisel away at the negativity that is challenging you. Then keep that appointment with yourself. Write down what you are struggling with – get it all out. Once you have done that ask yourself a question, “What if ___________?” Fill in the blank with the opposite of everything you have just written down. Write down the “what if’s.” This is the positive perspective of the negative challenge – the silver lining. Take your paper with the negative challenge and destroy it – shred it and discard or burn it. Keep the positive perspective and read it every day. When you are ready, change “what if” to “I am” or “It is” – whatever fits the phrase best. Continue to affirm your silver lining daily.
Working with The Energy
As you continue to work with your new silver lining perspective feel its energy. It is one thing to think about the positive but what brings it into your life is feeling it. To feel, you may want to start with grounding or connecting to Mother Earth. You can do that in a few different ways – walking in nature, gardening, lying quietly on the ground, hugging a tree, or imagine deep roots extending from your feet down into the earth. This again is most beneficial as a daily practice. Gaia is undergoing massive energetic shifts just as we are and some of you may be feeling them. The same energy that is shifting the earth hits us and may cause extreme fatigue,

unpredictable emotional release in the form of unexpected tears or bursts of anger, unexplainable body symptoms such as headaches and gastrointestinal upset, or a desire for dietary changes. Grounding, rest, and hydration will help.
In addition to grounding, it is important to remain heart centred. As you have heard me say before, this year the Divine Feminine is bringing in massive heart centred energy. It is important to feel the positivity in addition to thinking about it. Practicing heart-brain coherence will help. Remembering all the things you are grateful for and feeling that gratitude in your heart will also help. Now that you are thinking and feeling positively, it is time to act. Again, baby steps to bring positivity into your life and others’. Spirit is suggesting to start with small acts of kindness. When the world gets caught up in rising costs of living, conflict, health scares, etc. those small acts of kindness seem to get forgotten just when they are needed the most. Begin with yourself as a recipient. Start your day with a smile in the mirror, look straight into your own eyes and tell yourself how loved you are. Hard to do? Consider this… the Divine loves you unconditionally. You are a spark of the Divine so how can you not love yourself? By extension that also applies to everyone else on the planet so how can you show a little love to others? Simple gestures are still meaningful – a smile, a wave, a door held open, a compliment, a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, a hug or high five to celebrate – and they will all brighten someone’s day as well as yours. Your positivity will be contagious. You may feel hopeless about a war on the other side of the planet but if you focus on what you can do to spread positivity, love, your light, you will help others find their silver linings.
Reach Out
If you are still having trouble finding your silver lining, changing your perspective of a challenge to a positive one, reach out. Ask your friends and family for help. That is what we do at our Soul Messages’ community meetings. No one needs to stand alone unless you chose to. Allow others the joy of providing an act of kindness for you. Also reach out to your spiritual team – your angels, guides, ascended masters, passed loved ones. They are all waiting to help but you need to ask.

So, in the end, those silver linings are not so hard to find. In fact, most times they are sitting right under our noses. We are just too preoccupied with our pain and suffering to step back and consider the bigger picture. Once we do though, we can control or eliminate that pain and suffering by focusing on our silver lining. The next time your find yourself sinking into hopelessness or despair, pause and take those few steps back. Then wrap yourself in that silver lining and know you are on your way to better times. You will get there because you are loved, and you deserve it!
Sending you love and light,
Marilyn
