Angel Messages - The Dragon

How has your start of 2026 been? This year promises new beginnings and opportunities for positive change. They will be occurring at a rapid speed to move us forward supported by the energy of the Year of the Fire Horse. Are you ready? If you are a bit hesitant, especially if you have still been in the last throws of the releasing energy from last year, today’s card has come forward to support you! In fact, I have received its message twice today as I also drew a card earlier in the day for myself and it appeared. Needless to say, I had a good chuckle when after a thorough shuffle the card that popped out of the middle of the deck was the same card! Spirit definitely wants us all to receive its messages that will help us feel reassured and ready to step into the starting gate. The card comes from the beautiful Mystical Wisdom Card Deck created by Gaye Guthrie. It embodies the intention of the deck which is about “bringing peace and comfort” and to “inspire and uplift.” The cards offer guidance for the present and future with the acknowledgement that “you hold within you the power to change your life and the free will to choose circumstances.” (Source: Mystical Wisdom Guidebook) The card is absolutely about our ability to embrace what is to come. It is the Dragon.
Some of you may remember that I have encountered a couple of my own dragons and have worked with one in particular every day for over two years. I was just thinking a few days ago that I miss working with her and have not yet received clarification about how I should be working with the second dragon that appeared a few months ago. I believe the same Dragon card twice in one day is my answer for next steps. I invite you to see what its messages hold for you.
My Messages
Discovering Our Courage to Be Free
The first thing that strikes me about this card is that the figure on the dragon appears to be so
free! She is soaring high above jagged mountains below – perhaps symbolizing the tough challenges we have faced in the past. The dragon is supporting our freedom to move forward as is the horse energy of this year. The dragon rider is telling us we are free to exercise our free will to follow our passion and our intuition both represented by the pink and purple colours she is enveloped in.
The dragon is also rising out of turbulent dark waters. Water represents emotions. The dragon is telling us to “discover our courage” to free ourselves from any tough emotional experiences we might be having, that we can rise out of the darkness. Some of those experiences may be personal as we move out of 2025 finally releasing relationships or situations that no longer serve us. Some of us may be sensing the turbulent emotions of large groups of people who are responding to the many negative events happening around the globe. Whatever the turbulent emotions are, the dragon is reminding us that we have the power to rise above them, to be free of them. Our strength will not allow us to be pulled into their undertow.
Shine In Your Authenticity
The green dragon herself symbolizes wisdom and transformation. She is encouraging us to “harness the magic within,” to reconnect with our authenticity. She is reminding us that we have the courage and strength to live as our true selves. If you look closely, she is carrying with her what appears to be a city complete with the light that she once discovered there. I see a treasure chest at the base of her body with a horn extending from it into her wing. Is she telling us we are carrying forward what we need for this next step of our journey – we have the tools we need. We have worked hard over the past years, and it is time to recognize how we have grown. Hidden in the folds of her neck are the faces of several animals – the lion, the horse, the rat. She is showing that their courage, strength, and intelligence are part of us.
The green dragon is also a symbol of rejuvenation, personal growth, and the pursuit of wisdom. She is encouraging us to continue to embrace the changes/challenges to come as they hold more of the wisdom we seek. In fact, the dragon is not breathing fire. It is our purple light of internal wisdom that she breathes. The rainbow sky behind her holds the hope of beautiful new beginnings as we stay connected to our intuition and the love of the Divine. Spirit is saying that the more we embody compassion, even for the “perpetrators of darkness,” the higher we will soar. Just as the dragon appears to be reaching for the cosmos, so too can we remain connected to our light within and the light of the Divine. The dragon is with us today to help us remember that we have always had that connection and always will. We just need to allow it to shine, to have the courage to shine as who we truly are.

Working With Your Dragons
I hope this card holds meaning for you. Some say that the dragons are returning to Earth to
help with the planet’s ascension. You may have already met one or two of your dragons and are working with them. If not, be open – one may be waiting in the wings until you ask them to come forward. They are amazing creatures! I plan to connect with my most recent dragon. Although she was grumpy when we first met one morning as I awoke with her face only a few inches from mine, she did say she was here to help me. It feels that it is now the time to work with her ancient wisdom. Wherever your path takes you next in this fast-paced year of freedom, I hope you can ride your dragon far and wide into new and amazing heights!
